Screen Printing and DTF, Explained
These are the two methods we run, and picking the right one saves real money. Screen printing pushes ink through a mesh stencil, one screen per color. There is a setup cost per screen, so it is the wrong choice for six shirts and the clear winner above roughly 24, where the per-shirt price drops sharply and the print survives years of washing.
DTF, or direct to film, prints your artwork onto a transfer film and heat presses it onto the garment. There are no screens, which means no setup cost, no minimum quantity and no limit on colors. Photographs, gradients and fine detail all reproduce cleanly, and a white underbase is built in so colors stay true on black garments.
Which One Should You Order?
Ordering 50 staff polos with a two-color logo? Screen printing. Ordering 8 shirts for a family reunion with a full-color photo? DTF. Need one sample before committing to a bulk run? DTF, then screen print the production order. We will tell you honestly which way is cheaper for your quantity rather than defaulting to whichever is easier for us.
We also sell DTF gang sheets by the sheet if you press your own garments. Send the artwork, we print the film, you apply it.
Apparel and Promotional Products
